Keegan Foster is and Interaction Design student at QUT. His project – SoundTable is an interactive music coffee table which will create dynamic audio loop and instrument once it is interacted. The idea embedded in SoundTable is to design an interactive installation object with an ordinary look yet provide immersive and playful experience toward audiences via their interaction.

SoundTable is the combination of audio and interaction installation design. Dynamic audio loops and instruments will be generated by touching the table's surface. SoundTable embeds 4 different cubes which represents 4 different musical instruments and sounds - drum, bass, etc. Also, pitch and duration of each instruments and sounds will be adjusted based on the interaction and hand movement toward the SoundTable.

One major challenge of this project related to technical issue as SoundTable is the combination of various elements of sounds and techniques so making sure the stability and consistency of the object is challenging. Regarding to the future of SoundTable, Keegan is currently working on making the sounds more impressive, as well as improving the visual aspect of the table to invite more people to interact with it. Hence, the current version of SoundTable might not be the final version as the project has a potential to be developed in the future in both technical and visual aspects.
